--Develop program strategy and project framework of Lhasa office, including elements such as scientific research, reserve capacity building, and community conservation, which can meet both 5-year needs of Changtang conservation and institutional development.
--Design specific projects to fulfil periodic conservation goals and objectives, in accordance with WCS global strategy.
--Lead project implementation to ensure our research and conservation practices are scientifically sound, being of pilot value, and delivering outputs on schedule.
--Advise to the Tibetan government on important conservation issues including national park establishment, human-wildlife conflict mitigation, and reserve management enhancement.
--Establish and maintain the positive working relationships with various partners in Tibet, including the relevant government agencies at various levels, academia partners, media partners, domestic donors, NGOs, and community leaders.
--Make sure the staff asset of Lhasa office increases, in terms of our general capacity and willingness.
--Minimize the risk associated with field working environment to ensure staff’s safety.
Contribute to WCS China’s strategy.
Minimum Requirements:
--Bachelor Degree or above in biology.
--At least one scientific publication on peer-reviewed journals as the first or communication author.
--Demonstrated very good knowledge of various fields in conservation science.
--Minimum of five-year experience in non-profit sector working on nature conservation.
--Minimum of three-year working experience on the Tibetan plateau.
--Demonstrated strong understanding and independent insights of conservation issues on the Tibetan plateau.
--Demonstrated strong ability to communicate with a variety of partners and stakeholders, and to mediate and resolve complex issues that involve multiple actors and/or interest areas.
--Demonstrated strong ability to independently establish and manage new programs.
--Demonstrated strong ability of leadership.
--Ok to spend at least 9 months annually in Tibet, including at least 5 months in the field.
--Fluency in spoken and written Chinese and English.
